May signing day update 2.0: State champions pick colleges

As the season for track and field concludes, track and field and cross country programs in college are filling up roster spots really fast. We've been behind on these so we will run through as many signings as possible. But, we will come back with more soon. If you see any we missed, email or tag us on Twitter. 2023 MSHSAA High School College Signees

Without further ado ... 

Belton: Mario Nunez has signed to run at State Fair Community College, joining teammate Emma Rinaldi, who signed earlier. Nunez ran cross country while doing hurdles, triple jump and the 800 for the Pirates' track team.

Blue Springs: Arianna Calloway is one of the best high jumpers in Missouri -- two all-state honors already and going for a third this week. She has signed with Northern Illinois. Another Division I signee for the Wildcats is Kayleigh Jenkins, who will attend Missouri State. She's a standout in the sprints and on relays and has been all-state in the 100-meter dash and high jump.

Blue Springs South: A cross country power in recent years, the Jaguars will send three girls to run at the next level: Caitlin Grover, Paige Thielen and Maggie Boley. The latter is staying close to home and will run for UMKC. Thielen signed with Columbia College and Grover inked with Graceland University. Boley ran at the state cross country meet the past three years and was an all-stater this year in Class 5. Thielen ran at the state cross country finals in 2022 and 2019. Grover was all-state in cross country and track and field and ran at state in cross country all four years. The group helped the Jaguars win the Class 5 XC title in 2021.

Camdenton: Amythist Spangler has signed with State Fair Community College. She's done the long jump and 100-meter dash for the Lakers.

Cardinal Ritter: Central Methodist added a St. Louis product to the roster in Joshlyn Troupe. She does the sprints, long jump and high jump. She was a sectional qualifier in the 400-meter dash in 2022.

Hillcrest: Tracen Tate will head up Highway 13 to compete for Southwest Baptist University. The Ozark Conference champion in the discus and shot put this year qualified for sectionals this year in both events.

Holden: Tyler Hankins is headed to Central Methodist University. He won the MRVC East Conference pole vault title this year

Lee's Summit North: Jeremiah Rainey-Dunlap, a 6-foot-5 high jumper, has signed with Division II Northwest Missouri State.

Lee's Summit West: Mikah Scott is another Titan headed to a D-I school, signing with Kansas State. She's a state qualifier in the 100- and 200-meter dash this year and set the school record in the 100-meter earlier this year. She earned all-state honors in both events last year. Teammates Sam Mathis and Luke Furnell also signed letters of intent. Mathis signed with Central Missouri. He was a state qualifier this year in Class 5 at the cross-country finals. Furnell is headed to Utah Valley University. He was an all-state hurdler in the 110- and 300-meter in Class 5 last year and has qualified for the 110-meter hurdles all three years of high school.

Liberty : Caden Van Hauen will join teammate Britta Foust at Missouri State. Van Hauen has done sprints, jumps and pole vault for the Blue Jays.

Liberty North: Distance standout Asher Curp will run at Central Missouri. He helped the Eagles win the Class 5 cross country title in 2022 and he was a previous state qualifier in Alabama. 

Montgomery County: Lyric Ford, a standout distance runner, is headed to Maryville University. She was fourth at the Class 3 State XC Championships this past fall; 14th in 2021; 23rd in 2020 and 8th in 2019. Ford has a pair of all-state medals in the 1,600-meter run.

Nixa: Caleb Gamble is a distance runner for the Eagles that will compete for Evangel in Springfield.

North County: Kenleigh Lange signed to run at Mineral Area College. She competed in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles.

Northwest Cedar Hill: Martina Menees signed to compete at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. She is a discus and shot put thrower.

Odessa: Gavin Zumwalt will continue his running career at State Fair Community College. He was a distance runner for the Bulldogs track and field and cross country teams.

Palmyra: 2021 Class 3 pole vault state champion Abbey Redd has signed to compete for Division II Washburn. She was a runner-up last year in the event and qualified again. Teammate Connor Bross, a distance runner, signed to run at Hannibal-LaGrange.

Parkway South: Cole Tatro signed with South Dakota Mines. He quailed for the Class 5 state meet in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter running events. He was also a two-time state cross country qualifier.

PerryvilleBreanna White is a thrower headed to William Woods University. White throws the shot put, discus and javelin.

Pleasant Hill: Avery Lawrence, will be a pole vaulter at Southwest Baptist University. She's also run cross country for the Lady Chicks.

Potosi: Kaydence Gibson signed with Mineral Area College. She's a past state qualifier in Class 3 for pole vault and also competed at the state cross country championships the past three years.

Rock Bridge: The loaded Bruins roster has Grace Parsons headed to Nebraska; Ian Kemey to Oklahoma State and Johnny Imboden to Webster University. Parsons is a qualifier in both hurdle events this year and has been a cross country runner as well. Kemey is one of the top runners in the state in cross country, taking second this year in Class 5. He's been all-state three times in four trips to the XC finals. He's also been all-state in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Imboden is another distance runner and will head to the Division III school.

South Nodaway/Platte Valley: Jenna Mason, who took fourth in the Class 1 shot put finals this year, signed with William Woods University. She earned all-state in the event last year and also throws the javelin and discus.

St. Dominic: Central Methodist added Noah Phillips to its sprint roster and was fifth in districts last year, just missing a chance to move on to sectionals.

Sturgeon: 2023 Class 1 state qualifier Madison Horn has signed with Central Methodist University. She's been a qualifier in the 800-meter run the past two years.

Versailles: Thrower Isaiah Waller -- who does discus, shot put and javelin -- signed with State Fair Community College.

Washington : Clyde Hendrix signed to continue his career at Iowa State. He's a three-time state qualifier in the javelin and was all-state last year. He's also a state qualifier in high jump.

West Platte: McLain Zendejas will run the 200- and 400-meter dashes at William Woods University.

William Chrisman: Vailea Snead will stay close to home and compete for Metropolitan Community College. He's competed in 400-, 800- 3,200-meter runs and also ran cross country.

Winnetonka: Tafaol Mohamed inked with Central Methodist University. She swept the KC Suburban Blue 100- and 300-meter hurdles titles this year.
