Cardinal Ritter girls win 3rd straight Class 5 MSHSAA title

JEFFERSON CITY -- The Cardinal Ritter girls' track and field added another trophy to its recent run of success.

Prior to 2017, the Lions' program had zero girls' trophies. Now, they have won six in a row and on Saturday they wrapped up their third straight title by winning the MSHSAA Class 5 State Track and Field Championship.

Dating back to 2016, only Cardinal Ritter and Lee's Summit West have won titles in Class 5.

Cardinal Ritter had only nine points after the first day, but surged the way ahead and finished with 94 points. The Lions scored points in 10 of the 19 events.

This is the most points the school scored in the three-in-a-row after scoring 85 1/2 last year and 64 in 2021.

The first three trophies came in Class 3.

During the latest state title the Lions got points from a variety of athletes.
