The junior college national championships were held last week while the NCAA Division I, II, and III national meets are tomorrow, but between those meets, the first of four 4-year college national championships are today. The 2023 NAIA National Cross Country Championships kick off the 68th edition of the meet in Vancouver, Washington today. It's the 7th-time the meet has been hosted in the Portland, Oregon suburb.
Athletes and teams earned automatic qualifying spots in the meet from conference meet performances while at-large berths were also handed out. Thirty-six men's and women's teams qualified for the meet along with 85 individual men and 88 individual women.
Twenty-three teams per gender qualified automatically, while 12 at-large berths and another host berth were awarded.
The women's 6k starts at 12:30 p.m. CST in Missouri or 10:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time in Washington.
