Stahl, Moresi Lead Missourians at RunningLane Championships

John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama played host to one of the fastest Cross Country races of 2025 once again with the RunningLane Championships on Saturday. Several Missourians made the trip down south for an opportunity to race against many of the country's best runners and ring the PR bell if they run an lifetime best time.

The boys contingent from Missouri was led by North Point's Hunter Stahl. In the Gold division, Stahl ran his second-fastest time of the season and his career - 15:13.70. This was just off the 14:56.30 lifetime best he ran at the Gans Creek Classic in September. His 24th place finish was just off of RunningLane All-American status (top 20), but made him the top Missourian on the day. Rolla's Cameron Martensen was not too far behind him, though, with a 15:17.90 mark and 28th place finish. Martensen was 4th overall in Class 5 in November and finished his season with three straight marks under 15:20.

Raymore-Peculiar's Elijah Smith stole some headlines with his Silver Division victory, running just ahead of the mark that earned him 8th place at the Class 5 State Championships last month - 15:35.27. The Rockhurst University commit started his season with a win at the Raymore-Peculiar Invitational and ends it with a win on one of the biggest stages in the country.

On the girls side, three Missourians came across very close to each other in the Gold Division, led by Parkway Central's Gabrielle Moresi (pictured above). The Class 4 State Champion nearly broke 18:00 for the first time in her career, hitting a personal best of 18:03.07 for 33rd overall. She came across ahead of Cor Jesu's Kaitlyn Loeffelman (pictured below), who ran a personal best of 18:14.91. In her first season, the junior ran over 19:00 only once in her career debut at the Forest Park XC Festival (19:04.80) and has been under 19:00 everywhere else. Her teammate and Class 5 runner-up Mary McKenzie was four seconds behind her in 18:18.55. McKenzie was recently named as the Big River Running St. Louis All-Metro Runner of the Year.
