MSHSAA Class 1-2 State Track Championships 2012

Interview with Herculaneum junior Ryan Jackson Friday evening, May 18, at the 2012 Missouri State Track and Field Championships in Jefferson City. Jackson captured the Class 2 3200 State title with a six second victory finishing in 9:41. Jackson and Kaitlyn Fischer both captured titles for the Blackcats which adds to the long legacy of success for Herky distance runners. Earlier in the day Jackson anchored the Herculaneum squad to a runner-up finish in the 4x800. One month after dipping below the 11 minute mark in the 3200 at the Kansas Relays, Herculaneum junior standout Kaitlyn Fischer claimed the Class 2 Girls 1600 State title with a six second victory in 5:11 Friday, May 18, at the 2012 Missouri Class 1-2 State Track & Field Championship Meet in Jefferson City. Fischer's and teammate Ryan Jackson who claimed the Boys 3200 crown, add to the long tradition of success for Herky Black Cats distance runners. Blake Goodin pulled his father, Bill, alongside him atop the podium at Dwight T. Reed Stadium to share the moment. Blake had just accomplished what no other Missouri male athlete had ever done – win 11 state track titles. 

 Valle Catholic not only repeated as the Class 1 state track champions, but this year the girls matched the boys to give the Warriors a sweep of the state trophies.

Cleveland NJROTC had done everything it could on the track, and all the Commanders could do was anxiously sit and watch the 1,600-meter relay unfold.

Herculaneum scored big in the distance events on the guys side while the Pinto's of California accumlated points off the jumping ability of Sydney Deeken.

Valle Catholic had amassed 28 quick points before the crowd even had a chance to descend on the famous pork steak sandwiches outside of Dwight T. Reed stadium at Lincoln University.
