Week 7: Heat Rolls Out, Rain Rolls In

Mugeche Stays Perfect; Blue Springs Stays Hot

Oh, ho hum. 15:44 for the win and Blue Springs senior Victor Mugeche does it again. Like Findley before him, this was his 2nd slowest time of the year, but his 6th victory of the year and 5th time under 15:45. His resume is similarly stellar, too, as he added this win to his Greg Wilson, Forest Park, Blue Springs Invite, Rim Rock, and Capital City golds. Mugeche also looks unbeatable in the West as his teammate Oaklee Hauschild is the only Missourian who has even come close to him this season out of KC. Hauschild was 2nd, 20 seconds behind in 16:05. The smooth operator will sail on into the state series in 2 weeks as the clear favorite in Class 4.

Lee's Summit West gave them a run for their money with a 3-4 finish from seniors Ben Burnett and Alex Geoghegan, but it was not enough to stifle the Blue Springs attack and the Wildcats would come out on top in the team race. Led by Mugeche and Hauschild's 1-2 finish, Gabe McClain and Morgan Cauveren continued their solid duo-running with 7th and 8th place finishes in 16:47 and 16:48 respectively. Freshman Brock Wooderson was the Wildcats' #5 on this day, but it is a spot that has belonged to a few others besides him throughout the season. Blue Springs was only 12 points ahead of LSW, but they will not see each other again until the state meet. Lee's Summit North was a distant 3rd, 49 points back of Blue Springs.
