Three relative unknowns coming into 2017 populate the top 3 spots heading into this weekend's Class 1-2 Race at Hancock. Garrett Becker of Steelville benefited from a fast course at Vienna and sits just ahead of Malik Stewart from Maplewood-Richmond Heights who also benefited from a fast race at Stan Nelson. Elliott Voelkel from the very small Fulton School of St. Albans (Franklin County) sits 3rd. Steelville's boys are looking promising right now, but New Haven will definitely put up a fight, especially if they can bring their #5 down into the 19s.

If you haven't noticed already, Samantha Bolourtchi, formerly of Clayton High School and our Class 3 Preseason #15, transferred to Whitfield over the summer, but still looks strong and will be competitive in Class 2. She'll face off with New Haven's McIntyre sisters, Jefferson R-7's Heacock sisters, and Father Tolton freshman Lauren Hervey. New Haven, should they win on Saturday, will solidify their spot as the current #1 team in Class 1, but will have competition from Father Tolton.
