District 7
The Class 4 District 7 Meet will be taking place at Lee's Summit North High School in Lee's Summit, MO. This course has ran pretty quick this year, and we should see some pretty good times on Saturday.
The Boys race looks to be hotly contested between Class 4 No. 7 Rock Bridge and an emergent Blue Springs South squad (who would be State Ranked if we had new rankings this week). Blue Springs South just ran very well on this course last week where they took second to No. 8 Ray-Pec by a mere 6 points. Rock Bridge also just had a stellar performance at the Fast Cat Classic. However, I'm going to give Blue Springs South the slight edge in this one.
The individual race should be good as well with Matthew Hauser (Rock Bridge) leading the way with a season best of 15:27, followed by Brock Wooderson (Blue Springs) at 15:40, Royce Fisher (Grain Valley) a 15:52, Dillon Grover (Blue Springs South) at 15:55, and Isaiah Spellman (Rock Bridge) at 15:57. Hauser has won both head to head matchups with Wooderson at Gans Creek and Forest Park. Wooderson also finished ahead of Grover at KC Suburban Gold, and Royce Fischer at Tim Nixon. I think Hauser will win this one, but I think Wooderson will take him to the tape.
In the girls race Class 4 No. 3 Rock Bridge will be the heavy favorites to win. This team is very young, but very very talented. They have looked strong all season, and in fact seem to be getting even better. Their closest challenger will be Class 4 No. 9 Blue Springs South who has been solid all season as well, and just had a good race at the KC Suburban Gold where they finished second to MO No. 1 Lee's Summit West.
The individual title looks to be showcase of young talent. Carolyn Ford (Rock Bridge) enters with the fastest season best with a MO No. 1 18:19 and after starting her season with two second place finishes, shes won three straight races including Gans Creek, Parkway West, and the Fast Cats Classic. She'll be the favorite, but she will still need to run well as Mya Trober (Blue Springs South) has been running really great the last three weeks, and just ran 18:57 on this course at the KC Suburban Gold meet where she was the champion.
