Scouting Report: St. Teresa's Academy

St. Teresa's Girls

St. Teresa's showed what they are capable of when they won the 4x800 this year.   Lane Maguire and Courtney Coppinger, both of which were All-State in the 800m, will lead the team again this year. Coppinger was 16th last year while sophomore Ann Campbell finished 23rd in her freshman year.  Maguire was sitting in tenth before being forced to crawl to the finish line.  With that trio up front, STA will be a power this year.  Also they have another trio of girls just over 20 minutes.  They should be one of the top teams in the state this year and could pose a serious threat in November to defending champs Lee's Summit West.

Coach Moran Redlich Says...

"Our top group of runners is looking the best they ever have.  They put in a lot of quality miles this summer and several of them attended distance camps throughout the Midwest.  Three of them participated in AAU track and just got back from competing at nationals in Houston.  At our first day of practice on Monday, we did a three mile time trial on a nearby trail to see what kind of fitness everyone has and our top three runners finished in under 20 minutes without any difficulty and many of their teammates weren’t far behind.  Our numbers look great as well.  Over 60 girls have been at practice the last two days.   "

"Our schedule will be the same as last year.  We will go to the Kris Solsberg Invitational at Longview (formerly the Lee’s Summit North Invitational), the Ray-Pec Invitational, and take our top group of runners to run the incredibly challenging hills at Sioux Passage Park at the Hazelwood Central Invitational.  We will also run at Rim Rock again, which has great competition despite being only a 4K distance for girls.  We will also be competing at the Metro meet, where we finished second last year. "

"Our runners experienced a lot of success by finishing in first place in the 4x800 relay at the state track meet in May.  All four of them are back this year and that taste of success gives them the confidence to want to do it again this fall.  I know November is a long way away and a lot of things can happen between now and then, but the girls and I believe they can be the best team in the state this year.  We finished fourth at state as a team last year and our top six finishers at state last year are returning and all are healthy and ready to run even faster."
