Week 5: Scorching Heat Cannot Stop Scorching Times

Griesenauer Dominates Again at Warrenton

It was a low-key meet in Warrenton on Friday afternoon, but the girls race featured two of the biggest names in their respective classes at the moment. Holt senior Emily Griesenauer put together another big race on a course that she has seen before, but usually in the postseason. In the heat of the day on Friday, Griesenauer was less than a second off of her time from last year's Class 4 Sectional 2 meet on the same course and won the Warrenton Invite in convincing fashion. She was 39 seconds clear of Christian High freshman Mercedes Schroer. Schroer's 20:12 was 56 seconds clear of 3rd. Suffice it to say, Griesenauer is in a league of her own in the St. Charles County/Northeastern Missouri area at the moment. Holt averaged 21:26 for the win and is starting to look like they could be a sleeper pick to make it to state again in 2017. They were state qualifiers last year as a team.
