Big River Running Company is continuing a tradition of honoring the top harriers in the St. Louis area from each Fall's high school cross country season. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch had named an All-Metro team for years but didn't in 1993 and the St. Louis Track Club picked up the baton and ran with it, naming a team for 25 years. In 2019 Big River took over the honor and responsibility of naming teams and honoring athletes and teams.
The 2023 honorees were recently announced and they will be celebrated at a banquet Sunday night sponsored by Big River, Big River Race Management, and St. Louis University High School, who will host the event at their campus in St. Louis.
A committee selected seven athletes for First Team All-Metro honors, seven for Second Team, and three more as Honorable Mentions for each gender. A Team of the Year was also selected for the Boy's and Girls' sides.
