That 3:15 (3:15.05, mind you) -- as well as breaking a 19-year old record, was just amazing. Central was in the mix with Cahokia and East St. Louis for the first two legs .... well on pace to run a very fast time and most likely come out with the win ... but then all of a sudden their THIRD leg splits a sub-48 to bust it wide open and then hands off to Hester (fresh off that 47.95 FAT open) who gets the stick and runs unchallenged the rest of the way. Goodnight and drive safely.

Kudos to the athletes and coaches at Hazelwood Central -- you're doing some incredible things. Cahokia was celebrating after the 4x4 for the overall meet title ... but jaws were dropped on that 4x4 (not to mention the 41.90 4x100).

Coach, thanks for the kind comments. We are very pleased with how our athletes are responding to the training and performing on meet day. The main focus at this time of year is to keep them level-headed and fresh for the stretch run.
However, we are more excited about how our 4x8 ran then anything. No disrespect, but anytime we can beat a SLUH 4x8 our kids get very excited. And that is a tribute to the great teams that you guys have every year. We look forward to seeing everybody again, it was a great meet the weather held off and there were great performances all over the place. Good luck to everyone the rest of the way.

    Coach Lorimier,

In my opinion, demonstrating that you have a 4x800 that will be ready to go sub-8 at State -- and perhaps significantly under -- is enough to put any other school with overall team championship aspirations into a serious state of despair. Very, very impressive, but not at all surprising given the speed listed on the card. In fact, I leaned over to Coach Porter moments before the gun and predicted that your guys would throw something big out there.

And thank you for your kind words about our squad. Our guys will be excited for the challenge to race again at district and beyond. We're still trying to work out the final composition of the team, but we're getting close.

47.95 is one of the fastest times I have ever seen in Missouri prior to the state series. I am looking at our school's all time list and the fastest that Maurice Mitchell ever ran prior to the state series was 48.22. Does anyone know what Dominick Peterson's best time in a non-state series meet was in high school?

Dominic Peterson dropped 47s on a regular basis his JR and SR seasons. Imani Butler dropped a couple 47s before the state meet.

Question for the Hazelwood Central coach on personnell if they don't mind answering. Are we likely to see Laron Cook in any open events? Be a real treat to see him drop a relay and run one open event. Also is Stevin Armstrong going to be running the 400 at districts?

Both Stevin and Laron have been battling "nagging" injuries. Laron we have been "babying" along and we are trying to get Stevin back for conference. Therefore it will depend on the conference meet to determine where those two will fill out the district roster. Hopefully this answers your question.
