Week 10: The Last Rung of the Ladder

Class 3 District 1 - Dexter

Yes, Class 3 District 1 gets their own page, but it is because they deserve it. There will be a couple of very deserving teams sitting at home after this weekend because, as usual, District 1 is stacked. We tried our best to make sense of it.

Top 10 Boys

1. Max McDaniel - Festus

2. Blake Morris - Notre Dame Cape Girardeau

3. Jonah Krieg - Festus

4. Benton Keran - Notre Dame Cape Girardeau

5. Garrett Rhine - Festus

6. Alec Whitener - Festus

7. Darren Reese - Potosi

8. James Ziesmer - Festus

9. Loki Cortner - Herculaneum

10. Trenton Childress - Festus

Festus is a team that peaks when it matters under Coach Bryant Wright's system. We expect them to take 6 of the top 10 spots and probably put their #7 in 12th. What's more is that they are made up of mostly sophomores now and have a 15:30s junior..

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifiers)

1. Festus (projected points: 23)

2. Notre Dame Cape Girardeau (projected points: 75)

It is going to be razor thin, but we are predicting Notre Dame Cape to take the second spot by 3 points over Potosi with Herculaneum trailing only 5 points behind.

Top 10 Girls

1. Nautica Stricklin - Herculaneum

2. Alaina Baumgart - Notre Dame Cape Girardeau

3. Melissa Wolk - Festus

4. Sarah Moore - Ste. Genevieve

5. Madison DeClue - Potosi

6. Allison Payne - Festus

7. Kaylee Heeter - Potosi

8. Emily Enghauser - Herculaneum

9. Lillie Kaempfe - DeSoto

10. Claire Morrill - Notre Dame Cape Girardeau

We made a bit of a bold call here picking Stricklin for the win, but she has been running well this season and is a strong pick to upset Baumgart. We honestly would have picked Sarah Moore for the win, but that was before we found out she has been nursing an issue with her foot.

Top 2 Teams (State Qualifers)

1. Festus (projected points: 54)

2. Notre Dame Cape Girardeau (projected points:76)

...3: Herculaneum - 78, 4: Potosi - 85, 5: DeSoto - 95. It is another nail biter, but we are confident that the same two teams from the boys side will also get through on the girls side and probably be podium contenders.
